Nationwide Counterterrorism Middle Director Joe Kent on Tuesday introduced he’ll resign in response to the Trump administration’s army actions in opposition to Iran.
“I can not in good conscience help the continued battle,” Kent mentioned in a letter addressed to President Donald Trump, that was posted on Kent’s official private X account.
Kent, a promoter of far-right conspiracy theories whom the Senate narrowly confirmed for the director position final July, accused the president of being deceived by Israel into supporting battle in opposition to Iran.
“Iran posed no imminent risk to our nation, and it’s clear that we began this battle on account of stress from Israel and its highly effective American foyer,” Kent wrote in his letter.
The White Home, the Nationwide Counterterrorism Middle and the Workplace of the Director of Nationwide Intelligence, which homes the counterterrorism middle, didn’t instantly reply to CNBC’s requests for remark.
