Federal regulators introduced a recall of almost 50,000 Volkswagen Jetta automobiles within the U.S. over an engine hearth threat brought on by a unfastened wire after stories from a number of house owners of melted wires and fires.
The automaker reported the difficulty to the Nationwide Freeway Site visitors Security Administration (NHTSA) final Wednesday.

“The transmission floor wire could not have been correctly related throughout meeting, inflicting an open electrical circuit,” the recall said.
“An open circuit could enhance the chance of extreme present draw, probably growing the chance of a fireplace.”

Volkswagen reported at the least six claims throughout the U.S. and Canada, with three incidents involving melted wires and connectors and the opposite three leading to engine compartment fires.
No crashes, accidents or deaths have been reported.
Regulators added that lower than 1% of the recalled automobiles are literally anticipated to have the defect.
